The Boy at the Window

Seeing the snowman standing all alone
In dusk and cold is more than he can bear.
The small boy weeps to hear the wind prepare
A night of gnashings and enormous moan.
His tearful sight can hardly reach to where
The pale-faced figure with bitumen eyes
Returns him such a God-forsaken stare
As outcast Adam gave to paradise.

The man of snow is, nonetheless, content,
Having no wish to go inside and die.
Still, he is moved to see the youngster cry.
Though frozen water is his element,
He melts enough to drop from one soft eye
A trickle of the purest rain, a tear
For the child at the bright pane surrounded by
Such warmth, such light, such love, and so much fear.

~Richard Wilbur

The title of my entry today is the title of the poem I decided to include. Upon Laurel's suggestion on her blog, I went looking for some of his poems. The first I read was too much over my head. I'm not saying I want simple poems, but I need simple language poems. Unfortunately, as much as I looove the written word, if it becomes too complex the message gets lost to me, lost in the words and what's trying to get through to me, never reaches me. This poem, this poem has simple enough language, yet it is complex enough in it's meaning to compell me to look into it more. Especially the last line, "and so much fear" wow. i don't like analyzing poems in front of other people because it takes away the beauty and room for one's one interpretation, so I will leave it at that.

I feel like writing. I'm inspired but nothing comes to mind. I wish for once I could have a good story line planned out to write to keep me going. Or I wish I could just go and not take pride in my word to read it over and over again correcting as I go so that I lose my inspiration by having the first part corrected and wonderful and the next part I'm working on terrible because it hasn't yet been revised several times like the beginning. And I wish not only my inspiration ran on and on,but also my ideas, because like now, I feel veeerrry compelled to write with no idea of what to write and no words coming.

For those of you that celebrate, I wish you the very best Easter. And for those that don't, an awesome weekend anyway.

Drip drip drop little April showers

Okay, no, I am not wishing for rain, but I just realized that I have not posted in April yet and I immediately think of that song from Bambi when I think of April. That and April fools day. Which, I didn't even do anything for. I'm no good at thinking of anything though unless it's too mean to do. Like calling people and telling them I have cancer. And that's just cruel, so no, *shrugs*. I wish I had a twin sister that I could switch places with (Go Sweet Valley girls!) See I have the Elizabeth down, and she even likes to read and get good grades like me, all I need now is a wild Jessica twin.

There's been some drama since I last wrote, but I won't go into the details of it. I'm worried, but there's only so much I can do.

There's also been a lot of fun times with Callalily, we had a picnic one day, we like to have fun and play with the camera, we like to watch movies (and yes despite what I know you are thinking, we DO watch them.) We've had midnight snacks, and talked about all kinds of things. We also enjoy silence in the company of the other and nothing has ever felt more right in my whole life. Not even Disney, and I couldn't tell you what it was that made me go to Disney. Wouldn't it be funny if it was something where if I stayed at school we would have met that semester only it wouldn't have worked out? It's funny how things work out, isn't it? I feel sooooo secure where I am at the same time my head is telling me I should be scared because I'm on top of the world and could easily fall. but how can that happen when it feels so right? I think for the first time in my life, my heart is outweighing my head. On the one hand it feels so exquisitely blissful and on the other hand it is a bit scary. So go ahead and call me a hypocrite now "don't get too attached" "make sure you're independent enough should something happen." etc. all those that were waiting for cupid to strike and see how I stuck to what I said go ahead I've finally done it; I've fallen in love.
