I Am Glad to Say I No Longer Relate to Drew Barrymore's Character

You know...I really should be working on my RA seminar paper. Really, really. But I got back from Chem lab and I deserve a break right? Noo..that couldn't be protesting I hear from my audience can it? You wouldn't be saying things like, "you've had enough breaks already, you need to get to work." would you? *laughs* You'd be absolutely correct of coarse but I know you wouldn't say that. haha.

I can't do this weekend justice, especially in a public journal. So, I'm just going to leave you all with the knowledge that it was awesome!! Although, some of you know that already ;)

what happened to my motivation for school? It diskapeared on me! And this is going to shock you all..but I CANNOT WAIT FOR IT TO BE WARM AGAIN. (Did your jaw hit the floor yet? hehe.) As much as I love the snow that was for a few months ago. Why couldn't it come when it was supposed to? And there's hardly even enough now to say we even had snow. But I just want warm weather...please!! Maybe it's still the Florida in me but as pretty as you are...go away snow and cold (but only for this year) And if it HAS to come again this year it BETTER be sooooo much that we get to go play in it and we DON'T have class. ooh how much fun would a snow day at college be? heeehee! Wishful thinking..I know.

and just in case you were all wondering Chemistry sucks.

My interview for the RA position went very well though I think. I even came up with an awesome question for her. I asked, "what qualities do you look for in an RA, so that I can strive for them?" Good one huh? I say that like it was a devious thing, a trick, but I really was curious and they like questions!! That led her to answer the question of coarse, but then to say that she thought I would make a good RA and she likes the balance that I have. For example not alllways talking in class because then that means I wouldn't really be listening to what everyone else has to say, but yet I do put my two cents in. And while I realize she might want to compliment everyone during the interview at some point she was truly genuine and seemed like I would be someone she'd want on her staff, which makes me feel good and valuable which is a good thing.

and now before you all yell at me...off to my paper..followed by food, seminar, and Bed of Roses.

Stressful Week

This week has been a verrry good week, but also a very stressful week. I am still on a high compared to last semester because comparatively I just feel sooo good. And not even really just comparatively. I am doing wonderful. There's so many aspects of my life that I am satisfied with right now. It's not just one thing, it's a whooole bunch of things. Although I'm not strong in my specific religion because of the rules and regulations and things I'm "supposed" to believe as a Catholic I feel really close to God right now and it's wonderful. And because of that, I'm starting to feel like everything is working out exactly how it's supposed to. I feel like I can impact a lot of people just by smiling at them. I feel like I matter to this world. Maybe that's the main reason I'm feeling happy. *shrugs* I just feel like I matter to a lot of people, some that I might even never know, and I hope I matter to those I think I matter to. *laughs* okay I'm going to stop before I confuse myself. Plus, I have to get to bed cause I have 2 tests tomorrow. In Geology and Calculus my only classes tomorrow. I'm not too worried about Geology, I think I payed enough attention in lecture and stuff, that's why I'm writing this blog now to let all I've studied tonight sink in. Hopefully it works. Calculus I'm not worried about at all, I was sooo bored during the review class today and I think I have it down pat. He makes it very simple to understand which is good but sometimes I feel like we move to slow. Anyways..you all enjoy your night, or morning as I guess the case now is =) A bientôt!

I Always said I never wanted to be prey to a drug, but somehow I'm hooked

This is going to be a forever long update so if you're here and only have a few minutes to spare, don't waste your time come back later, assuming you're interested in what I have to say.

Friday just before church choir practice I took a shower and I felt so good and so clean and so wonderful. Church choir is always fun. Afterwords Sunflower, Callalily and I went to the dining hall to eat. I forget what we all had, my memory is fried. But I do remember we all had resees peanut butter cocoa puff marshmellow bars, they were very good, but interesting too. We had, well, I atleast had a good time. Instead of going back to my room, I went to Callalily's and listened to music. She has very good taste and I like sharing music and I like her trying to find things she'd think I'd like, she guesses well. S came with us to my room and then to the up all night. When we first got there we made nametags. Mine was written in purple marker. There were so many people there from CSA which was awesome and we had a pretty good turn out. Then they split the guys and girls up and had talks with older men and women respectively. I'm not sure why they had to split us up..I'm not sure I feel okay with that, but it was nice to hear what they had to say. We talked a lot about it being okay to not always be at the top of the rollercoaster which I thought was awesome. And it was nice to hear what they had to say. After that, we congregated into small groups while waiting for mass to start. We had father Bob, also known as the "punk priest" come and talk to us. I liked the fact that he got passionate about what he was speaking about, although and this is no offense to him, he was a bit long winded at times. Mass in the downstairs rooms are always so nice, that's where candlelight masses are held. I like that father Willie always asks questions, we got to that eventually at the midnight mass, but not right away. It was still nice though, and the peace be with you part is always awesome but really nice this time cause there was more people there than there usually are for our candlelight masses, but it was still run the same way in that we spend a lot of time on that part trying to see everyone. Mass lasted longer than it was supposed to but when it was over we relaxed and got a game of cranium going. Another group had the harry potter trivia game out, and I think despite it being like 8 degrees out some people went outside and threw a football around. The something out of nothing game was quite interesting. We split up into groups and were given various things. We had sillyputty strings feathers popsicle sticks and foam pieces, but each group had something different. Each group was then given a word out of the dictionary that were outrageous and we had to make what we thought the word meant and why. We didn't have a cute skit with ours like some did, but our word was quadrig. We made a rig based on an oil rig drawing from four different sources..haha. It wasn't very good, but hey, it worked. Rosary's were after that and I forgot how meditative it is to do the rosary, I'd like to get back into doing it regularly and I'd also like to try taize prayer aand I'd like to go some night when I'm stressed out just to pray cause I know there are times I needed that before and didn't. Father Willie then took us around and explained a lot of the church to us. I found that part sooo interesting. It really is a gorgeous welcoming church. I don't know that I want to go back to anywhere else. But that leaves me really limited on location for the future now doesn't it? *siiighs* what to do, what to do. By this point we were all staaarving thank goodness it was breakfast next. We still had to take pictures with all of our creations though, and we got prizes afterwards which everyone seemed to enjoy. I had a bagel with cream cheese. mmmm. As always I was one of the last to leave. But I had such a good time and I really think things happen for a reason, and I, I dunno it was just...wonderful, I never wanted it to end. The walk back was extremely cold though. my insides were shaking. I had the good fortune to have callalily and S walk me back to my residence hall and then suprisingly as tired as I was, I wasn't tired. SO I chatted to callalily some more and then we decided we should go try and see sunrise even though it was cloudy and very cold. We went to the top of the parking garage and didn't see much at all..but we did get to see a train..choo choo! And even if you can't see the sun, being part of the break of dawn is still a peaceful thing. I never wanted to leave. She came over and looked at pictures until my dad came to get me around 8 and then I was off to home. The roads were bad so I couldn't sleep. As soon as we got home I had an english muffin with peanut butter and a granola bar (all this talk about food makes me hungry) and we were off to WV. Only a little over an hour drive for those that don't know. When we got there everyone was already there except danny. I loooved seeing them all but I was in such a daze cause I was so tired sometimes I could hardly keep my eyes open. It makes me sad to see my family too because I know I have to leave again and I like spending time with them so much. But I have things to look forward to here too. Anyway after they figured a lot of what they wanted to figure out Aunt Roni and I went to church in town, but first we went to Marilyn and Sarah's to get Roni's car. We had some time to kill though and all four of us sat around the table and talked. I had so much fun doing that..I love to talk! Now keep in mind we both come from churches that like to pep up the music. wellll this one was uh not that way. Everyone left there coats on so I felt like no one was really welcoming they were all in there own little worlds, the priest talked like it was routine not like he felt each word, I'm used to that with Father Willie. The person who read the sermons mumbled and was so hard to hear and was in a monotone. And the music was one lady playing the organ and singing and she took the happiest songs and made them sound like they were made for a funeral. And it was so hard to sing songs I knew like that I felt like I was moving through water, and it probably didn't help that I was so tired. But anyway we still enjoyed each others company at church and frooze on the way back to terii and grandma's where my mom's spaghetti and meatballs were waiting for us. MMM MMMMM Then we all went to see Terri's new shop Happy Tails. It's sooo awesome. I'm super psyched for her and for it to open. If she has enough business I might be working for her in the summer which will be exciting, but scary because I don't know that I have enough command over dogs yet. I would describe it...but I'm a terrible describer maybe I'll take pictures and post them sometime but don't hold your breath. even though I left all my stuff at my house...I stayed the night with Terri anyway. Kate and I helped her calculate things and then I went to bed. I was exhausted and could have gone to sleep earlier, but I didn't want to cause i wanted to spend time with them. I slept until 8 but didn't get out of bed til 820 or so and then we left around 830. We (Terri, Kate Grandma and I) had perkins with Marilyn and Sarah and Roni. I never wanted it to end. Terri took me home, Kate had to drive too, but I wished she was with us. I always feel bad now I never know who I want to ride with when they split up like that. I mean I know Terri's my aunt, but I'm just as much friends with Kate as I am Terri, so it leaves me torn. Terri and I talked about the shop although there were other things I wanted to talk to her about too, but didn't. Skittles is so cute I miss her so much and was sad that I didn't spend enough time with her this weekend. Mom and I had a good ride back to school. I talked to her a lot and it felt so nice. We came to my room picked up my shoes that I had to return and headed off to walmart. I feel very much a part of a sexist society because they had practically noooo women's sized hikking boots. Like 2 pairs, one that fit but didn't have ankle support the other didn't fit. and we went to multiple stores after walmart and they had NONE. GRRRRR. Women hike too! Women work too! GRRRRRR. So needless to say I have no hikking boots for my spring break trip, but my mom did bring the other ones home to see if she could take them to a repair place to have them fix them. Well actually she only took one cause it was only one with the problem. Church today was wonderful as always and afterwards online just mind boggling, a couple of very interesting conversations tonight, that leave me confused, but also much less so. I'm tired again and to sum it all up there are plenty of things about this weekend that I never wanted to end. *smiles* it was good though, even though I got like nooo homework done, it was very good. ANd I managed to stay up for 2 hours less than what people work in a week all in a row. haha. I don't know whether that's something to be proud of or not, but I think it's time to wrap this up. Goodnight/morning everyone!

Could all that stuff really happen in seven hours?

Today was up-all-night at the church. I can't even..there's so much to say where do I begin? I looove St. Thomas Moore University Parish, I love the fact that it's a more liberal catholic church, I love the people that go there, I love the looks of the church, which looks totally different from the alter than from where I usually sit. I want to belong to this church for more than when I'm in school. I really do. Hopefully I'll update more later right now it's time for a sunrise that I may or may not be able to see. But you gotta live for the moment and enjoy even the simplest things

Night Walks are the Best

I was just talking about my cat, and I feel like a cat. So content, so perfectly content. Valentine's Day actually went very well. I was very busy, but it was just like any other day during the day. But the weather was so beautiful I just wanted to go to the nearest park I could find and walk around. I gave Daisy some dasies for Valentine's Day since we were each other's "Valentine" and I also gave her some v8splash..hehe I'm so practical. I saw Sunflower again tonight which was nice. And as I was walking back the outside was just so compelling I wanted to go enjoy it. So Callalily and I decided we were going to take a walk. And I have to say it's one of the best times I've had in a while. I wanted to cry it was so beautiful, and the company was wonderful, and it was peaceful, and anti-stressful and something I definately needed. We walked through town a bit made a big loop going passed Philly street and over by the Breezedale house. I can't even begin to describe how good I feel right now...I didn't want it to end, I could have walked and talked for hours, but then I wouldn't have been ready to get up tomorrow. And speaking of that...I suppose I should be off to catch some sleep before that time comes tomorrow. But maybe I'll shower first..I really need one and it'll compliment a great walk with great company. =)

Hidden in the Closet

I was in the closet today. *laughs* I find this a rather amusing sentance so I will leave it in, but let me explain what I mean by that. Today I did all of my laundry and haven't put it away yet out of my hampers. Well usually my dirty clothes go at the bottom of my closet. When that space was freed, it looked very inviting. I am a strange one because I like to go inside closets. I used to do it for hide and go seek, but also for privacy to cry. And I still do sometimes, but I also go there for privacy to think. And that's what I did today...although I didn't get much thinking done I was comfortable there. I'm not depressed I just like it dark and soundless sometimes..and I like confined spaces to think in. I also like huuuuge massive areas, but that's in like the woods at an overlook with hardly anyone else around. But anyways, I didn't get much thinking done but I did rest and it felt good. I thought a little bit about the movie callalily and I went to see last night. It was.. well it was definately good, but I almost feel like I can't even begin to comprehend what really happened...because I'm looking through very feminist eyes, and the society they were in wasn't. How can I even begin to judge what the men in the society did? But yet it was so powerful and I... wow what a feminist boosting movie. I...wow.. I don't even have anything coherent to say about it. But it was nice to have a chance to hang out with her, even if we didn't get to talk too terribly much. Another excellent weekend that I would write about had I the time...but it would pretty much be the same a last only with singing at 3 masses...a swimming trip..and a sugar cookie baking extravaganza. =)

The Distant Drumming so Close to Home

I need to write about this before the feeling of elation leaves me.

In Geology class this morning the drumming started so slowly members of the class could have easily mistaken it for the beating of their own heart. As it grew louder curious glances were thrown towards the windows and there was a slight stirring as the sound became more clear. People were shifting in their seats and I could tell many were confused and wanted to know what was going on, but they also did not want to disrespect Dr. T. I was perhaps the only one who had an idea of what was happening due to one of the meetings I had last week. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I went about business as usual and when I was done with my 1145-1245 math class I was headed back to my room. And there it was again...coming from the direction I had just come. So, I looped back to the Oak Grove and seeked out the place of the sound. And there coming from the center walking towards a group of people gathered near Leonard in front of them a sign that read, "?Get rid of? HATRED." and another sign with "Stop Opression" and a bunch of students banging on make-shift drums and tamberines (and I'm sorry I know that's spelled wrong) and things. I knew what it was because I found out at Pride last week. A few of the leaders of Pride are also part of the group that organized this called, the Liberation Ground, and I actually saw them there. I couldn't help but smile. Widly, and wonderfully. I felt so elated and so free. *laughs* and I wasn't even a part of it. ALthough, if I wasn't such a coward I would have been. (The Zinni I strive to be is not a coward but an outspoken passionate person who's not afraid to dance or make a fool of herself, but I am unfortunately a long ways from there. But that's another story for another day.) But, what was so cool about this is that they weren't protesting war, a political decision, sensitive issues that are debatable. They weren't postesting an action, a belief, a law or policy. They were protesting hatred. They were protesting an emotion. Like...am I totally strange or does it seem so cool to protest such a destructive emotion? A by-product of hatred is opression and other things which in a round about way they were protesting, but that's not what they were saying. And they weren't attacking anyone with their protest because how can you attack anyone when you're protesting an emotion? You can't! I just.. I don't even know how to put how COOL this is. Am I the only one that feels this way? Gosh! I just.. wow, and they were having so much fun out there. Despite the cold, and despite the unenthusiasm from the crowd. Some that knew what it was about were getting into it, while others just gave weird looks. But still...it had an impact and it was just the coolest thing ever. Because it encompasses sooo much and soooo many people. There's a reason it's called The Liberation Ground. It's liberating people. And even if it's effects aren't global, and what they're doing seems pointless, it's not! If just one person thinks about something they're about to say before they say it because it comes out of hatred then the effort is WELL worth it! There doesn't need to be proven results to know that it makes an impact. I had a bounce in my step all the way back to my room, and the thought still makes me smile. Maybe it's because now, I am a part of a minority and feels good to have people fighting back, but I think it's more the fact that hatred is so destructive and I like the idea and how happy they all were out there banging their instruments making a difference. That's another thing the Zinni I strive to be would do. She would make a difference, peacefully ofcoarse, but make a difference still, or die trying. I love blending in to the crowd and not speaking out too much. But the Zinni I strive to be suffocates there. *smiles* but I've said too much, I just wanted to tell you about how ecstatic that scene made me and what a cool idea I thought it was and get your opinions about it. =)

(And if I didn't clarify it, in what I just wrote, what The Liberation Ground organized today is explained well in the campus e-mail that was sent out about it. And is as follows:
This is the first communiqué of Liberation Ground.
Liberation Ground, IUP’s anti-oppression activist coalition would like to invite all people to join us in a march against hatred and oppression.
On Wednesday, February 8th, Liberation Ground will march against oppression in the Oak Grove and greater campus. This march will observe the strictest alignment to manners and common sense. Our revelry will begin and end during passing periods, during classes we will settle into a group for quiet educational sessions and potluck style meals. Let me stress again that our movement, and events associated with it are strictly non-violent.
The march begins at 9 AM and will last throughout the day. Everyone is invited. Come unite with the IUP community against racism, sexism, genderism, speciesism and the countless other forms of oppression.
The revolution starts with you!)

Also...the snow right now makes me want to cry it's so beautiful...huge white dainty falling flakes. As TL has said and I have quoted, "Snowflakes are giggles from heaven." *smiles*

What'd'ya Say in a Moment Like This?

I don't even know what to say...
It's not because a tramatic event happened or anything...so don't worry... I just can't find the words to put here. I've been avoiding it because of time constraints, but also because I'm not sure how many people read this, and some things I just need to keep off a public site. I guess I'll do it in sections...

Musical Update: I bought Antigone Rising's CD and I absolutely loooove it. I'm still listening to a lot of Reba, Coldplay, Indigo Girls, and John Denver. =) Good stuff. I want to show music to people, there's something I love about doing that so let me know if any of you want to get together just to share good music.

Emotions Update:
I'm sooo soo much more like myself this semester, so much happier, in fact people who only knew me from the start of this year think I have changed a lot, what they don't realize is this is more like the normal me. A lot of the issues that I was dealing with last semester are there, but they aren't so insurmountable this time. Now I just have to deal with my new and upcoming and reoccuring issues like my affection for forbidden fruit.

Love/Potential Love Update:
As I mentioned I seem to like those I can't have... communication problems, not interested in me, not interested in women, too far away, involved with someone else, not the type of person I'm looking for, or too far gone. Valentine's Day will once again be a holiday where I spread the love to friends and family with no prospective "Valentine" in site. I like Valentine's Day for telling family members and friends I love them, but the rest of it makes me kind of depressed.

Organizations Update:
I went to my very first Pride meeting this week on Tuesday. It was... okay. The people there are much more comfortable than I am, not only with their individual sexualities, be it hetero, homo, or anywhere in between, but with sexual things in general. They also are planning on having parties and they're going to be off campus so they can drink alcohol. They're gonna be unofficial "meetings." I don't like this idea, it's not my idea of fun. Everyone wants to be less proactive and have it be more of a social gathering. My problem with this is, it's so much harder to blend in that way, and especially at this point when that's kind of what I would like to do. All of the leaders seem extremely nice though, but my stomach was in knots the whole time I was there. In some ways it felt really nice to be around people that were in homosexual relationships, it made me smile, and it wasn't them that made me feel uncomfortable it was the...?atmosphere? of it all. I'll have to see if I can continually attend. I joined ECO (Environmentally Conscious Organization) this semester, their first meeting was just before my first Pride meeting, a day of firsts I guess!! I've only been to one meeting so far, but it's fun we're planning a huge Earth Fest for the campus sometime in April, I forget exactly when. The people in it seem so nice and the president of ECO is also the one who is helping with ASB. Which is Alternative Spring Break, which I'm going to go to this year. We're going to Tennessee to build hikking trails, and I am SUPERPSYCHED! I have an informational meeting about that on Wednesday, which means I am going to have to miss my RHC meeting. Which, by the way is going very well this semester. We've got a lot of things planned and because the president is feeling better more things are getting done. But I must say since I've already established myself as a not so very good president and a layed back one, it's making it a little bit rough to get back into the game, but that's okay. Besides RHC on Wednesdays I have Geoscience Club as well. But I was scratching my head this past week because although I went to the room at the normal time of the meeting there was no one there. I could have sworn this club met weekly...*shrugs* I guess I'll have to e-mail Ryan, the one in charge. Thursdays and Fridays are the days I look forward to most. Fridays especially, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Thursdays I have CSA (Catholic Student Association) and Candlelight mass. This week was particularly awesome because I have a huge montorage pick me up from Wallace and walk me over to St. Thomas More this week. Devon, Daisy, Elizabeth, and Diana all came to walk me over, and it was also awesome because Sunflower showed up too!! CSA is not my favorite part of the night, I find myself cringing a lot at the conservativeness of it all, but I do still enjoy myself there. My favorite part is Candlelight mass..it could possibly have something to do with the fact that there is beautiful singing going on, but I wouldn't really know..haha. I really have begun to love Catholic mass. More so than ever before even though I'm the least catholic I've ever been in my life right now. But, I'm the most in love with God I've ever been right now, and it's not because things are going well for me, it's because I feel something when I go to mass and sing. I feel it to my toes throughout my soul. It sounds corny I know especially from someone who doesn't take everything the church feeds, but it's the feeling of nourishment I guess. There's something magical about St. Thomas More, there truly is. But I'm getting off topic... The singing brings me joy, and singing for God brings me joy, and singing with others brings me joy, and sharing the Eucharist brings me joy!! I'm just full of joy. =) And food after mass is nice too..I mean, food is ALWAYS good, but getting a chance to talk to everyone is what I really love. I feel bad, but I tend to leave those I come and go with to talk to those I only have a chance to talk to there once a week. I was one of the last to leave this week, but it was nice. I felt bad for Devon her leg and foot hurt, and others left early which was sad too, but still it was nice. Then Fridays I have church choir practice. This week Callalily came back and Sunflower came too! I'm so glad, both of them have said that they really enjoy it, which makes me happy cause it gives me someone else to share it with and it's nice to have more people in choir. I told Lynne on Thursday that Sunflower is a music composition and music education major and at practice when she asked him about it she said, "Where have you been?" *smiles* (After practice Callalily, a fellow staff member of hers, Sunflower and I ate dinner at the caf. "Your parents have cancer?" hehe we had a good time despite the quote making it not seem like it.) Then I don't usually go to mass on Saturday night, but I did this week because on Sunday night Lynne didn't want a lot of people coming as she wouldn't be there to direct cause she would be home watching the superbowl with her family and friends. But I had such a nice time I decided if I like the music a lot from now on, I'm going to go to Saturday night and Sunday night mass. =) yay!

This Weekend:
I already mentioned mass on Saturday. Before that Sunflower and I studied in the library for around 3 hours, which is a good thing or I might not have even gotten that done. After mass, Sunflower and I made dinner, it took us a long time to make and we had somewhat of a recipe, but it was supposed to be an experimentation thing and I would say it went rather well. We had a cheesy chicken dish baked in the oven (compiled by hand, not in a box) and a s'mores browny desert that turned into stringy brownies ;) *laughs* We played a card game and watched an episode of Good Eats, which by the way is a good series based on that one episode. Then he fixed my computer and we talked for a loooong time. Which means I didn't even get up until 11/12ish today. I should have done more studying but I didn't. I did get some done over in Sunflower's room before we reheated the food with Daisy today. It was good to see her again, she made natural disasters on my head *laughs* (Sorry that's all the explanation you get!) And then she went back upstairs. Sunflower and I watched the movie Dave during the Superbowl and only saw the last 4 min. WHich was totally fine by me. The Steelers beat the Ospreys (If you don't watch Ellen DeGeneres I'm sorry you won't understand.) which means it was totally wild on campus. Screaming and honking horns everywhere. I'm glad we won, but it depresses me that people get so worked up about games when so many other people are suffering and/or paid a lot less for, in my opinion more important jobs, but I digress. Bad thing is once we made it back to my Residence Hall, we discovered I didn't have my keys and we had to go back for them. (Thank you, Sunflower, for compromising with me.) And now here I am...writing when I should be sleeping for class tomorrow.

To recap, it's been a good week and a good semester, aside from the one quiz in Geo lab which prompted my professor to write at the top, "Let's make this your lowest quiz score shall we?" I had a great weekend, and although I really am looking forward to going home next weekend and seeing the family I'm really really sad I'm going to miss choir...like...you have no idea. It's my salvation for the week. *ponders* perhaps I should reconsider my major? Yeah, that'd make my parents happy. *laughs* but I can't ignore the passion I have for singing can I? Or for church..maybe I should become a nun. I don't think I'm Catholic enough to enter into sisterhood, but ironically, I really could see myself doing something like that. You'd do a lot of organization, (which I'd like to do) charity work, (which would also be fun) I wouldn't have to worry about money too terribly much (which I'd really love) it fits in with my down-to-earth lifestyle...*sighs* What am I doing with my life?? (Please don't mistake this for hopelessness or depression, I'm really hopeful and happy, I just wish I knew where I'd get in life or had even an idea of where I'd like to get.) Well, have a good night everyone!! (Or I suppose at this point..morning. =)
