The Boy at the Window
Seeing the snowman standing all alone
In dusk and cold is more than he can bear.
The small boy weeps to hear the wind prepare
A night of gnashings and enormous moan.
His tearful sight can hardly reach to where
The pale-faced figure with bitumen eyes
Returns him such a God-forsaken stare
As outcast Adam gave to paradise.
The man of snow is, nonetheless, content,
Having no wish to go inside and die.
Still, he is moved to see the youngster cry.
Though frozen water is his element,
He melts enough to drop from one soft eye
A trickle of the purest rain, a tear
For the child at the bright pane surrounded by
Such warmth, such light, such love, and so much fear.

The title of my entry today is the title of the poem I decided to include. Upon Laurel's suggestion on her blog, I went looking for some of his poems. The first I read was too much over my head. I'm not saying I want simple poems, but I need simple language poems. Unfortunately, as much as I looove the written word, if it becomes too complex the message gets lost to me, lost in the words and what's trying to get through to me, never reaches me. This poem, this poem has simple enough language, yet it is complex enough in it's meaning to compell me to look into it more. Especially the last line, "and so much fear" wow. i don't like analyzing poems in front of other people because it takes away the beauty and room for one's one interpretation, so I will leave it at that.
I feel like writing. I'm inspired but nothing comes to mind. I wish for once I could have a good story line planned out to write to keep me going. Or I wish I could just go and not take pride in my word to read it over and over again correcting as I go so that I lose my inspiration by having the first part corrected and wonderful and the next part I'm working on terrible because it hasn't yet been revised several times like the beginning. And I wish not only my inspiration ran on and on,but also my ideas, because like now, I feel veeerrry compelled to write with no idea of what to write and no words coming.
For those of you that celebrate, I wish you the very best Easter. And for those that don't, an awesome weekend anyway.
